Many of our pupils over the years have gone on to have successful careers in the world of dance and entertainment. Here are just a few of the success stories:
Kerry, who started her ballet training with Maggie Monk School of Dancing, continued on to Tring Arts Educational School.
After leaving, she joined St Petersberg State Ballet before joining English National Ballet in 2006. In 2010, she was promoted to First Artist with the company and has performed in many ballet productions. In 2012, Kerry played a female lead role in the ENB's original production of Strictly Gershwin. The part was created especially for her!
In between work, Kerry came back to teach ballet at Maggie Monk School of Dancing, choreographing for our performance of Quackers in 2004. Kerry is currently a partner and instructor at Tring Pilates Studio as well as a classical ballet coach.
Kara Lily Hayworth
Kara Lily Hayworth first found her love for performing at Maggie Monk School of Dancing. She began having dance lessons with Maggie and the rest of the team from a very young age and knew from this point that she wanted to perform for a living.
She went on to train at The Central School of Speech and Drama on the BA Hons Acting with Musical Theatre course from 2007-2010.
Since graduating, she has been very busy in Theatre, TV and Film, including working on feature film Maleficent.
In 2016, Kara made it through to the Live semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent with vocal group, Zyrah Rose. Kara has just won her first major role as Cilla Black in Cilla The Musical which is due to open in Liverpool in September before embarking on a UK Tour.
Becky trained with Maggie Monk School of Dancing her whole childhood and after taking her associate exam to become a qualified IDTA teacher, she went on to further her dance training at the London Studio Centre.
She now works as a professional dancer, both in the UK and internationally, and has an extensive resume. Although primarily a dancer, she also works as an actress, voiceover artist, choreographer, dance teacher, presenter, model, stilt walker, poi, angle-grinding and fight performer!
Much to our delight, Becky regularly comes back to our school to teach masterclasses and pass on her fabulous choreography.
Hannah is the daughter of head teacher, Fiona Kear. She started at the school at a the age of 4, following in her mother's footsteps.
During her time at the school, she performed at 7 of the Elgiva pantomimes and other local shows.
She went on to further her dancing training at Urdang academy, graduating in the Summer 2014.
Hannah is now getting regular work, performing as a dancer and has made recent appearances on big TV shows, such as X Factor, Brit Awards and Strictly Come Dancing working alongside the likes of Leona Lewis, Olly Murs and The Wanted.
Nicky trained with the Maggie Monk School of Dancing for several years before going on to complete an iDance scholarship, specialising in hip-hop.
She has since performed in the UK and internationally with several dance companies and crews, including Culture Shock Dance Company, and has performed at many big dance events, such as 'Move It'.
Nicky came back to the school to teach Street Dance for 6 years but has now left to pursue her ambition to travel.
Katie attended classes at the Maggie Monk school of dancing from the age of 7 through to 18 and it is with us she gained her first taste of the stage and performing.
She went on to train at Paul McCartney's school The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and then on to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She has since been working as an actress and singer performing in a Production of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' with Veni Vidi Theatre Company.'
Zoe studied Ballet, Tap, Modern and Street Dance at the school from age 4 - 18.
In 2011, she was offered a place at Stella Mann College of Performing Arts on their 3-year Musical Theatre course. Whilst training, she performed at Move It! Show at Kensington Olympia, at The Dorchester Hotel in London for The Make a Wish Foundation and played Millie in the college’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Graduating in 2014, she gained aTrinity College London Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre, Level 6 NQF.
Zoe is now working professionally as a Vocalist for a Warner Leisure Hotel, in 5 shows a week as well as intimate lounge sing sets and is thoroughly enjoying her time with the company.
Alana danced at the school for several years, during which time she was also involved in the Harry Potter films. She then went on to do a 3 year BA Hons Musical Theatre course at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
Since graduating she has appeared in the chorus of 'a bAcchae' at the Yard Theatre, Hackney Wick and is currently playing the role of the Princess in Cole Porter's 'Jubilee' at the Tabard Theatre, Chiswick.
She is now working as the Lead Vocalist on The Pacific Jewel cruise ship in Australia.
After leaving the Maggie Monk School of Dancing, Miranda attended The Academy Drama School as part of their Medallion Foundation Acting Course. She then went onto spend three years in Yorkshire training in acting at Bretton Hall before continuing her training with a Musical Theatre course at Guildford School of Acting, graduating in August 2009.
Since graduating, Miranda has performed at The Landor Theatre as several comic characters in a spoof of 'Macbeth', as well as Mary in a disco version of 'The Nativity'. She also performed at The Watford Palace as a young girl wanting to join the circus and as a soloist in the incredibly popular ‘Thursford Christmas Spectacular’ in Norfolk.
Camilla was one of the school's early pupils and trained in Tap dancing for many years. She went on to train at the Central School of Speech & Drama and Atelier Raymond-Girard (Paris).
Camilla was recently directed by Denis Lawson in the BFI Premiere of In The Mix, appeared in Danny Dyer's TV series The Smoke and will be next returning to Italian and French screens in various projects. Favourite stage appearances include Photo Me at the Riverside Studios, The Witches at the Wyndham's West End and the Italian language role written for her in Di Come Savona Ebbe Il Suo Teatro.
She also performs her own music worldwide as Diva de la Guitare and continues to enjoy her Tap dancing.
